Material Testing
Here at Matt's Printables we only use the highest quality materials. In order to ensure we use the correct material for each project, we test everything we use for strength and temperature resistance.
The Tests
Strength
To test the strength of each material, we utilize a design by Stefan at CNC Kitchen. This test hook provides a real world demonstration of multiple material properties. This test hook is loaded into a device where it is stretched to it's breaking point.
Temperature
To test the temperature resistance of each material, a small bridge is placed into the oven with a weight on top. The temperature is slowly increased until the sample droops by 1mm. The temperature is monitored by 3 separate probes.
Results
In order to maintain transparency and help others in their search for the right materials, all results will be posted here and updated as new materials pass through the office.
